My husband was on high doses (300mg's a day) of the prescription drug Aproval for 20 years for his high blood pressure.

After his eyesight was severely affected and all of the medical tests they did showed that he was no better off from taking this drug, I started him on Hawthorn extract for about a month (monitoring his BP everyday of course).

We started reducing the Aprovel down to half for the week, then down to half every second day, and then finally going with just 3 of the Hawthorn capsules per day.

Four months later, he's on 2 Hawthorn extract capsules a day, his BP is normal, his eyes have improved 80% already, and an all over change to his health has occurred!

Nice one Maureen! Hawthorn is a terrific herb for heart health and not only works for lowering high blood pressure, but amazingly, it also raises low blood pressure too!

Here's a few studies that prove the benefits of Hawthorn extract for reversing heart disease and its accompanying health problems...

* A four year study on the benefits of hawthorn, commissioned by the German Ministry of Health, found that it improves contractions in the veins and heart while dilating the heart muscle. This increases blood flow in the heart as well as flow speed throughout the body for increased circulation to organs and muscles. Researchers concluded that hawthorn is best used for low heart function, congestion, arrhythmia and tightness in the chest. Even better, no side effects were noted from the use of Hawthorn (Hoffmann 1995).

* In a German clinical trial involving 78 patients with class 2 congestive heart failure, hawthorn leaf and flower increased heart working capacity, lowered blood pressure and improved fatigue and endurance while relieving difficult breathing problems (Schmidt, et. al. 1994). Comparable results from other clinical trials for class 2 as well as class 3 patients have also been reported (Hobbs & Foster 1990).

* In a controlled Chinese clinical trial with 46 patients suffering from angina, a Chinese variety of hawthorn decreased the number of angina attacks by 85% compared to 37% with a placebo (Weilang, et. al. 1984). Other clinical trials have found comparable results with the use of hawthorn extract (Weiss 1988) (Chang & But 1986).

* A German clinical trial with 18 healthy patients found that hawthorn lowered heart rate and blood pressure during exercise, along with maintaining resting heart rate. (Hellenbrecht, et. al. 1990).

* Chinese laboratory and clinical trials reported that hawthorn is able to lower cholesterol and triglycerides by improving excretion (Chang & But 1986). Hawthorn is also reported to increase urination (DJumlija 1994) (Hoffmann 1995), which is often an important modality for heart conditions.

* Laboratory studies suggest that hawthorn's actions on the heart and circulatory system may be created through effects on the central nervous system (Foldi, et. al. 1959). Oxygen levels increase in the heart to provide a better balance of oxygen supply and demand (Lianda, et. al. l984).

Salt & Hiccups

Hiccups is actually a "Salt deficiency". A few years ago (2017) I got a Oligoscan just to check up on my cheap diet, mainly mixed vegetables in the morning & mixed fruit at lunch with rolled oats, to carry me through to the next days breakfast. It has been said if you cannot go a few hours without food, you are a sugar burner, but if you can go a lot longer than a few hours without meals, your body is a fat burner. It was the worse report/results I have ever had. The results overall were reasonably good though, as some of the results tied in with results from other tests. But what they assumed in the report was rubbish, like they accused me of having too much processed "toxic" salt and suggested healthy salt. I never go near toxic salt and try and stay away from food loaded with salt (it has been said there is only one place for processed salt, and that is in the rubbish bin). It has been said that no salt in the diet gives high blood pressure, while too much processed salt gives high blood pressure as well. I have been told that too much healthy salt is safe and would not promote high blood pressure, however, I think with everything in moderation should always be a good rule to use. So I thought at the end of last year (2018) to try another test just for results. So I cut back on a little salt just to see how the sodium results would be. A few weeks later, before I had the repeat Oligoscan, I had the worse hiccup attack I have ever had in my life. Just about the whole warm spring-summer afternoon I had hiccups. As soon as it stopped, half a hour later it started again. I quickly thought as I was rushing off to catch public transport "its like something is missing from my diet". Later on that night when I had more time to think, I thought the only difference between my diet now and a month or more before was that I reduced my salt intake. So I added more salt back into my diet. A week or so later I had one hiccup, as I was sitting next to a bag of Celtic salt at the time. I put a few grains of salt on my tongue with some water and my hiccups were gone. It is the fastest cure I have ever had, and to put it blunt the only cure I found that works. It has only failed once, when I tried to shift my drinking from late afternoon to the morning to avoid toilet visits half way in the night. So then I must of drunk a few glasses too quick (I am aware that death can happen drinking too much water too soon) maybe one should dose up on a bit of salt before trying to drink more water. And yes my blood pressure did change. Normally it is the low to middle of the normal range but this time it was the high end of the normal range. But worse still the difference between diastolic & systolic should be 40 in this case it was 51. So I used a remedy given to me by a friend that was in hospital with high blood pressure. This was given to her by one of her visitors... grate (one or two) tablespoons of root ginger, add a cup of hot-warm water, then add all the juice from a lemon. In a few days, along with having more healthy salt, my 51 blood pressure difference quickly got back to 40. I must add there is a professional group that mainly specialize in "bottom of the cliff" cures, that says "try and drink a full glass of water from the side furthest away from you". It is not so much the "strange activity you try to do" but it is the angle you put your neck at that resets the muscle in the neck that helps stop the hiccups.
