Cannabis Oil as a Breast Cancer Treatment (Estrogen Positive)?

by Gael
(Hartland, WI)

QUESTION:

Can the cannabis oil treatment (orally) cause an estrogen positive breast cancer tumor to grow? This has been suggested on other sites, and I hope it's not true. Does the ratio 1:1 make a difference in this case?

ANSWER:

Hi Gael. Thank you for your question regarding using cannabis oil for estrogen positive breast cancer.

Firstly, I don't know which sites you are referring to that suggest the ingestion of cannabis oil can cause estrogen positive breast cancer tumors to grow, but we have not heard of this. In fact, research proves the exact opposite!

Here's an article from the National Cancer Institute website on the anti-tumor effects of cannabinoids... National Cancer Institute.

Here's the paragraph about cannabinoids for breast cancer...

"An in vitro study of the effect of CBD on programmed cell death in breast cancer cell lines found that CBD induced programmed cell death, independent of the CB1, CB2, or vanilloid receptors. CBD inhibited the survival of both estrogen receptor–positive and estrogen receptor–negative breast cancer cell lines, inducing apoptosis in a concentration-dependent manner while having little effect on nontumorigenic mammary cells.Other studies have also shown the antitumor effect of cannabinoids (i.e., CBD and THC) in preclinical models of breast cancer."

The sentence I'd like to highlight is...

"CBD inhibited the survival of both estrogen receptor–positive and estrogen receptor–negative breast cancer cell

lines, inducing apoptosis in a concentration-dependent manner while having little effect on nontumorigenic mammary cells."

That says it all. The other thing I'd like to say is that NOTHING gets printed or published by the National Cancer Institute unless it's been 100% verified, so you can trust that this information is correct. In fact, after all of the studies that have been done world-wide on cannabis and cancer, they have yet to find a type of cancer (or cancer cell) that doesn't respond to the induction of cannabinoids.

When a cancer doesn't respond to cannabinoids, 9 times out of 10 it's because the cannabis oil is not high grade (and the cannabis used was probably crap) or it hasn't been made correctly. This is such a big problem. I did an interview with Rick Simpson and he agreed that this is the biggest reason why people don't get results from using the oil. With that said, if you do have access to some high grade cannabis, here's a "must watch" video on how to make the oil for maximum potency... How to Make a Small Batch of Rick Simpson Oil. You can also read about how to make the correct ratio on Rick's official website here... Make the Medicine.

Hope this helps.

Good luck and all the best,

Regards,

The studies that have been done supposedly linking THC to increased estrogen levels have only been done on female rats! There is no proof that THC increases estrogen levels in human females. Yet another study trying to discredit cannabis, and in particular THC, in my opinion. Watch the Skype interview I did with Rick Simpson just last week for more info on the power of THC... The study in question was produced back in 2006 and is a load of cods wollop! Even the ncbi themselves have come out with new studies showing the exact opposite of what this so-called study suggested and they've even admitted, in a round about way, that they were wrong. Have a read of this article and scroll down to the "Cures Breast Cancer" section to see results of the real studies on cannabis oil for treating breast cancer... 34 Studies Showing Cannabis Can Cure Cancer.

As far as the ratio of CBD to THC, Rick Simpson recommends as high THC as you can get for treating ALL forms of cancers. Since he's had so much to do with cannabis oil and the healing benefits (much more than alot of these researchers, who quite frankly, have absolutely no idea just how to produce high quality oil), I'm sticking with Rick and what he advocates!

Who do I see about using Cannabis oil for estrogen driven breast to bone cancer?

I had breast cancer (estrogen driven). Lumpectomy, radiation and Tamoxifan... cancer back in my sternum. Now on Arimidax. I am very interested in cannabis oil but not sure who to go see about this... osteopath? I want to be sure to talk to a professional... have loads of questions.

Unfortunately Evelyn, when it comes to using cannabis oil for cancer, you're essentially on your own. Most doctors don't want to know about it and the ones that do risk losing their license if they get found out by the AMA. It's a sad state of affairs. The Rick Simpson protocol is definitely the best there is. There's some good information about this listed in the links provided here if you're interested... Estrogen Doesn't Cause Cancer
by: Alex Doge

If cancer was caused by estrogen and THC increased estrogen levels then THC would make it grow; however, I've never heard of a link between estrogen causing cancer. If that were true, every girl would get it. Phytoestrogens reduce the risk of cancer.

You do make an interesting point Alex. What causes ER positive breast cancer though is excessively high levels of estrogen. Most women only have moderate levels of this hormone, hence why every woman doesn't get it. It's the high levels of estrogen that increases a women's risk. With that said, we certainly agree with you; phytoestrogens are excellent for not only preventing ER positive breast cancer, but also for even treating this disease.

Thanks for your comment :)

I Cured My Aggressive Breast Cancer With High THC Cannabis Oil
by: Geri Ann

I was diagnosed with breast cancer in Aug 2015. The ultrasound detected a 15x13x12mm mass - IDC adenocarcinoma. I had been caring for my Mom at the time who had lung cancer. We had given her 60 grams of cannabis oil in 90 days and her cancer never grew or spread. That gave me the courage to postpone my own surgery and use the cannabis oil to see if my tumor would shrink. I cancelled 3 different surgeries. The lump could no longer be detected after 3 months.
I struggled with the THC/CBD ratio but ultimately decided to use high THC as many cancers of both men and women are hormone driven. If high THC was a problem, I thought, then people such as Rick Simpson would have seen it a long time ago. I worry that people are deliberately being mislead about THC. It's hard to trust anyone once you see the truth behind our medical system.

Hi Geri Ann. Firstly, thank you for taking the time to share your story. We really appreciate it and what you've shared is going to give many women lots of hope. We've been saying over and over that the THC cannabinoid is nothing to be afraid of if you have breast cancer. Sadly, the medical profession do a good job of scaring women about it so they wont use it. I spoke to Rick about this very subject when I interviewed him last and he said the same thing. THC reverses ALL types of cancers!! Thank goodness you followed your heart and went with it. Hopefully more women will now have the courage to follow in your footsteps and do the same.

Thank you once again for sharing your story with us.

This information is encouraging. I actually read last night DR. CHRISTINA SANCHEZ PHD saying towards the end of her interview that hormone activated breast cancer cannot be helped with CBD cannabis oil.
I'm wondering if I should switch to high THC instead of high CBD and very low THC. I'd like to hear from any women with my hormone type that have had success with this. Also, what about the Budwig diet. Is this recommended with my type.

My Experience with THC on Estrogen + Breast Cancer
by: Kari

Hi everyone,
I'd like to give you my personal experience using high THC oil to treat Estrogen positive breast cancer (ER+, PR+, HER2-). I was originally diagnosed in November 2012 and have multiple tumors over the years, despite several surgeries and alternative treatments. I have always taken excellent care of myself and because of this, my cancer (despite stage 4- mets to the bones) my quality of life has been normal. I travel the country every week for work, my energy is always high and I feel great! However, this all changed once I started using high THC oil to treat my cancer. As someone who never used cannabis in the past, I had a lot to learn and the information out there can be conflicting at times. I live in a state where medical marijuana is legal and I have access to dispensaries. I used high THC oils, just like Rick Simpson suggests and I also found out the hard way, to make sure it's always Indica strain. (Sativa strains intensified my bone pain) Once I had this down pat, I consistently used the high THC Indica oil every night at bedtime. It helped me sleep much better and also helped with my bone pain, so I thought, this is great! However, after several weeks, I started noticing I was having difficulty breathing, my abdomen started getting extremely bloated, and I was feeling lousy overall. I continued to travel for work and push through it, thinking I must have contracted some type of stomach bug or something. I just so happened to have an appointment with my oncologist and when I mentioned my symptoms, I was immediately sent for a CT scan. The next thing I knew, I was being admitted to the ER with a collapsed lung from fluid buildup in my pleural lining and severe abdominal fluid buildup (ascites). I had to have both my lung and abdomen tapped to release the pressure. They removed 1 1/3 liters of fluid from my lung (I still have an estimated 2 liters left) and 1 1/2 liters from my abdomen. Unfortunately, within days, the fluid was back. I also had several small tumors pop up all along my collar bones. I couldn't believe my cancer took off this fast! What caused it? How did I go all these years, doing so good, living a normal life, to have this happen... seemingly overnight? Was it the THC? Turns out, ALL cancer is helped by high levels of THC, except Estrogen positive breast cancer! I just added fuel to my own fire!! Ladies, please, please, please don't make my mistake if you have Estrogen + cancer. PLEASE stick to high CBD oil instead. When articles talk about Estrogen + breast cancer and cannabis, please note that they specifically say CBD. Do your research meticulously. Normally, I research everything thoroughly, but somehow missed this very important piece of information. I will be writing to Rick Simpson as well to let him know of my experience. Hopefully I will help prevent others from making this same mistake.

Hi Kari.

Unfortunately, purchasing cannabis oil from "legal" dispensaries does not guarantee that the oil is high grade or the company is even legit... Report: More Than 60% of Weedmaps Reviews Are Fake. This is a common misconception (and a common mistake made by many people looking to use cannabis oil). The one thing Rick ALWAYS drums into people is, first and foremost, grow and make your own cannabis/cannabis oil! This way, you know exactly what you're going to be giving yourself. The type of cannabis plant and buds used, along with the critical extraction process are CRUCIAL. Most dispensaries are only interested in turning out a profit, not producing and selling high quality oil. Believe it or not, some dispensaries don't even make their cannabis oil from female buds!!

Could the health problems you experienced have been caused from a low quality oil that you purchased? How do you know it was actually high THC? Don't believe what the manufacturer tells you. Once again, if you're looking to use cannabis oil, grow your own plants and make your own Rick Simpson oil (RSO) using the exact extraction process that Rick teaches. As far as only CBD being useful for HER2 (ErbB2-positive) breast cancer and THC being bad, this is simply not true. This study (which is one of many), published in Molecular Cancer back in 2010 proves it... Cannabinoids reduce ErbB2-driven breast cancer progression through Akt inhibition.

When someone uses a substance such as cannabis oil and it doesn't work, it's very easy to blame the "oil" in general or the THC or CBD or other cannabinoids, rather than scrutinise the quality of the oil. Yes you are right, there is a lot to learn about cannabis oil, and for us, rule number one (and Rick's first rule) is to grow your own cannabis and make your own oil. As Rick says... "The only way to know that you have the real thing, is to produce the proper oil yourself."

I would recommend that anyone thinking of using cannabis oil first purchase and read Rick's terrific book "Natures Answer for Cancer" before doing anything... Nature’s Answer For Cancer – Rick Simpson.

Response to Personal Experience
by: Kari

Thank you Troy, however, the state in which I live is very strict about the quality of the products and plants being sold. Before they are ever sold, they must all be tested at a private lab to ensure the product is what it says it is. That said, I was purchasing the bud and making my own oil with an Indica strain of high THC, according to Rick Simpsons protocol. I have no doubt the oil was correct. The cancer I have is estrogen positive, not HER2 positive, as you stated in your response. There is very little data out there to assist in this and I wanted to share my personal experience.

The good news is, I have been on high CBD now for about three days and I am already seeing an improvement. It's small improvements every day, but I'll take progress any day.

Troy, not all cancers are the same. Although I truly appreciate your passion and your website, it's important to keep an open mind that we don't know everything there is to know about this plant and it's powerful components. It's important to also draw from personal experience. I shared my experience of using high THC. If high THC was helping me, I certainly wouldn't have had my cancer spread so rapidly after I started taking it. Something was fueling the fire, and this is the only thing I changed. After reading the animal studies about my PARTICULAR type of cancer, I knew this was the cause. From everything I've researched ALL cancers, EXCEPT estrogen positive, and triple negative breast cancers, can be helped by high THC. Unfortunately, mine was not one of them. I am continuing to hope that high CBD will. Thank you.

Hi Kari, and thank you for your reply. Yes I was wrong, HER2+ is different from estrogen+. THC has been shown to induce apoptosis in ErbB2–positive (HER2) breast cancer cells, whereas, CBD is known to work at the genetic level, blocking expression of the ID-1 gene to inhibit breast cancer metastasis. In your case, CBD would be the most important cannabinoid, although, I still agree with Rick that all cannabinoids are important and work in synergy with each other. It seems you are following your gut on this though and that's good.

I sincerely hope the new oil you're using continues to help you. At the end of the day that's all that really matters. Are you following any other cancer treatment protocols as well? Hitting the cancer with everything you've got is crucial. This protocol is extremely popular and one you might like to consider adding to your daily regimen... Stunning Natural Cancer Treatment.

High dose vitamin D supplementation is also vital... 8000 IUs of vitamin D daily necessary to raise blood levels of "miracle" anti-cancer nutrient, declares groundbreaking new research.

Good luck and all the very best to you.

Estrogen Receptive
by: Regina

I was diagnosed with stage 3-4 (they cant decide) breast cancer on April 19, 2016. Since then I have undergone 4 months of chemo, and a single radical mastectomy. I am slated to start radiation soon and then reconstruction and mastectomy to the other side to be sure I won't have to worry about that one later. I am also thinking about having a hysterectomy so that I don't have to worry about that part of my body being an issue later or producing more drama for me down the road. But the problem I'm having is that the Dr wants me to take Arimidex for 5 years. The side effects are awful and everything in me is screaming "don't take the meds". I knew when I found my lump that it was cancer. I am doing my best to not let the Dr's scare me into anything or make me live in fear. I believe that fear feeds this disease. So my question is, do you think that the cannabis oil treatment can help me instead of taking this poison RX. I want alternatives. I have a 15 year old son and I'd like to be around awhile. I'm 49.

Confusion and Clarification
by: Gwen

I appreciate finding this discussion. I have had breast cancer from 1998 to current 2016, on and off For the past 6-years it's been managed with meds. I got it very young. Estrogen and progesterone positive with a lobular component. I have had every protocol, including Mexico, but have always been warned about Marijuana with this comment "we just don't know what might happen."

Each current oncological treatment, some worse than others, lasts about two years. Most recently, because the estrogen receptors stopped responding to each drug, like tamoxifen, arimidex, etc, I started taking Ibrance, which makes the receptors sensitive again to the drugs so they work again.

When you have cancer that has spread, you can't fool around. There are new drugs everyday, and the thought of messing up a drug that is working by adding anything else is risky. Especially with the the leaps being made towards a cure by Dr. John Link.

I am in the learning phase. I was given Wonder brand - High CBD 2:1 CBD-THC. It does not state whether it's an Indica strain. This by a Native American healer via my son. I have read here this is not a high enough CBD content. And I have read nothing addressing the progesterone factor. While I am not asking for medical advice, it would be helpful to get the best info you have on ER + PR+ breast cancer concentrations. And studies showing its use with current successful drugs as mentioned above. Thank you for any direction.

Progenterone+
by: Gwen

Thanks for finding that article. Kind of confusing because it seems opposite ratios from other comments - 4-1 THC will increase estrogen and others saying 4-1 CBD will not increase estrogen. But the protocol for Progesterone with Her2 you want an increase in estrogen. Am I following that? My case is not her-2 related. So it sounds like if you are one of the many with Progesterone and estrogen positive - Cannabis oil may not be a good option. Happy to hear from others on this topic. Thank you

Agree with Kari
by: Anonymous

I too am an estrogen & progesterone + breast cancer patient. I had a similar result when I started high THC therapy - 4:1 ratio. I experienced tumor and cell count growth. While going in for an ultrasound, I asked the tech if she thought there might be any correlation to my therapy. She said yes. They see a lot of men who smoke a lot of pot come in for treatment of gynecomastia (man boobs). So the THC does increase estrogen, which is bad for our type of cancer. I have now switched to a high CBD approach - still tinkering with the ratio.

As someone who's been in the medical cannabis industry for 6 years in both Colorado and California, I'd like to put my 2 cents worth in here. Mostly, because this is a VERY important topic in our community and there is a TON of misinformation out there.
First of all, I want to thank Kari for sharing her personal experience. No matter what the case is, nobody can take away YOUR TRUTH.
Secondly, I have to agree. I've worked with a couple patients over the years who tried to treat estrogen positive breast cancer with high THC products, and unfortunately, it did the exact opposite. At first, we couldn't figure out what it was that made the tumors grow and spread so quickly, but as soon as we switched to high CBD ratios, keeping some THC to get the maximum amount of benefit (the entourage effect), the tumors went away and stopped spreading.

WTF people?
by: Alex

I get you want to heal, but putting up a wall for people to climb over with proof is ridiculous. Do you ask that of your docs? No never. You trust their educated opinion and you take an educated guess. Figure it out on your own, not by asking questions but by reading, learning and THINKING. There is the information you seek somewhere out there. It's too complicated to know for sure anyways. Just eat healthy, avoid artificial chemicals, like those doctors shove down your throat without showing you "the studies", along with regular exercise! Balance is the key to most issues. Equal THC to CBD in my educated opinion works to help restore balance to the body. Curing cancer takes work, not pills or chemo.

My mother has stage 4 uterine cancer and we want to try some oil, one dealer has asked if its estrogen caused and the other said it didn't matter because high THC will always work.

I am not sure what to believe but mums doctors act strange when we ask them the cause of the cancer and won't tell us if its estrogen based or not so I need help. Should I try high THC and risk it spreading or try the lower THC concentration and hope that does a good enough job?

Firstly, when it comes to treating any form of cancer, you should always take a holistic approach rather than just relying on one single remedy. With that said, the best way to approach this would probably be to start with a low THC and high CBD concentrate first. If this is not working well enough THEN switch to a high THC/high CBD mix. Also have a read of this powerful cancer treatment protocol as well... Natural Cancer Treatment. It works extremely well when combined with cannabis oil.

Hope this helps.

BREAST CANCER AND CANNABIS- Things you need to know!!
by: Christi

Research has shown that PR+, HER2-positive, and triple-negative breast cancers can be effectively treated with high THC-to-CBD formulas, such as a 1:1 ratio, or a 1:4 ratio (1 part CBD, 4 parts THC).
However, some types of breast cancer (ones that are estrogen positive) may spread in response to large amounts of THC.
Patients with ER+ or triple-positive breast cancer do better with lower ratios of THC to CBD, such as a 3:1 (3 parts CBD, 1 part THC) or higher concentrations of CBD, such as 4:1 or 8:1. The exact ratio will depend upon a few variables of each individual.

Almost every strain of cannabis has a different ratio of CBD to THC (cannabinoids). In addition, even though two or more plants are the same strain, it doesn't necessarily mean they'll have the same ratio of cannabinoids. For this reason, you aren't necessarily looking for "a strain" to help treat the cancer, rather, a ratio of THC and CBD.
When the cancer is estrogen positive, you want to saturate the system with CBD. The patient will still need some THC to receive the full benefits, (the entourage effect), however, much less than what is listed on the Phoenix Tears website. Ideally, the patient needs capsules high in CBD.

The following info is just something that I wrote and give to all my patients dealing with cancer.
You have a better chance of keeping the cancer from further spreading by eating a plant based diet, adding supplements and vitamins to your daily routine, exercising, AND keeping a consistent cannabis regimen.
Exercise daily. Eat low acidic, raw foods and ORGANIC EVERYTHING. Lean meats, (wild salmon, not farmed, in controlled portions is great). Eat at least 2 1/2 cups of fruits and vegetables a day - the more the better! (This will be easy to do with juicing). Try to include dark green veggies, and citrus fruits like oranges and grapefruits as much as possible. Colorful foods like these have many healthy nutrients. Just be sure to wash them thoroughly beforehand. Consume cultured dairy products, but in moderation. Eat raw nuts and seeds such as almonds, walnuts, and sunflower seeds. Foods such as pomegranates, apples, bananas, spinach, kale, eggs, avocado, dark berries, raw cruciferous veggies, ginger, beets, and fresh herbs & spices are all good. Cook with turmeric as much as possible, or take turmeric capsules. Drink hot and iced green tea with a little honey.

Also take...
Omega 3s
Vitamin D
Probiotics- boosts immune system, improves digestive function.
Chlorophyll- hormonal balance, detoxification of the body, and promotes digestive health.
Spirulina- anti-inflammatory properties, especially when taken with other quality Omega-3 supplements.
Kelp- contains high amounts of iodine, potassium, magnesium, calcium and iron, as well as vitamins, antioxidants, phyto-nutrients, amino acids, omega-3 fats and fiber.

No chips, no candy, no processed sugar, no pre-made/frozen foods. Drink plenty of liquids all day. Raw juices are good, just be aware of the pre-bottled brands and what they put into them. Water is a great choice, just make sure it isn't acidic. (Most bottled waters are, but you can find some that are alkaline... stay away from unfiltered tap water!)
Buy a masticating juicer. Most juicers are centrifugal juicers or twin gear (triturating) juicers. These models have a fast spinning motor which not only heats the nutrients, killing a lot of them, but also bruises the juice so it has to be consumed almost immediately. A masticating juicer slowly squeezes the fruits and veggies, giving you the maximum amount of nutrients AND a better yield! Not to mention, you can keep the juice in the fridge for up to 48 hours and it will stay fresh.

ER+ and HER2+
by: Charlotte

Hi all. Thank you so much for a super informative forum. I have found it so helpful. I am currently sourcing some oil for a friend who has breast cancer that has metastasised into the brain, liver and bones. She is ER positive so I know I need a high CBD ratio, but she is also HER2 positive, which I have read is better suited to a higher THC ratio. So I am a little unsure of the best overall ratio to go for. It seems as though she'd be better going with the high CBD ratio?? Does anyone have any advice?
Many thanks,
Charlotte

She should probably try a high CBD ratio first and see how well she responds to this. If it's not enough then maybe look at trying a higher THC mix. The baking soda/molasses protocol is also effective for cancers that have metastisized and can be used in conjunction with cannabis oil and even conventional cancer treatments. This is the gold standard of this particular therapy... A Natural Cancer Treatment That Gives Astonishing Results!.

Answer to Charlotte's Question
by: Anonymous

I would start your friend with a 3:1 ratio, or something close to that. (3:1 or higher, meaning more CBD). Take consistent doses and re-evaluate after 2 weeks. If the cancer has spread, or gotten worse, switch to a higher CBD ratio, such as a 10:1 or higher. You will then know CBD is the way to go. If her cancer has gotten better, stay with the same ratio. If it has had no effect whatsoever, and everything is exactly the same, add THC to the original ratio... so go to a 2:1 or 1:1. Because she has both estrogen and HER2 positive cancer, an equal amount of THC/CBD may be ideal. That being said, you definitely want to be safe rather than sorry so start with a higher CBD.

by: Anonymous

Thank you so much Troy, I haven't seen that particular treatment. I shall go shopping first thing and get the ingredients!
Unfortunately I am having trouble sourcing the oil, so have been looking at the cbd oil available online, without any thc. Do you think this could be a worthwhile alternative? I know it won't beat the real thing.... but I'm in the UK so getting hold of it is nearly impossible. 😫
Many thanks, Charlotte

Hi Charlotte. If pure CBD oil is all you can get then I would go with this. Better to try it than not do anything. High CBD oil does work very well if it's pure. Sourcing the oil online can be daunting though. There are just so many dodgy dealers out there. If you go with a high CBD oil then you will probably need to buy it from a dealer. Just be careful. These guy's are 100% reputable, but I think they're in the US... CBD Pure Hemp Extract. Maybe they deliver to the UK, I don't know?

Hope you find what you're looking for.

Good luck and all the best to you!

Cannabis as breast cancer treatment ER+
by: Lynsey

I was diagnosed with triple positive breast cancer and would like to try the cannabis oil. I have also read that ER+ can spread using high THC. How do you know what the ratio is of the oil and if you make it yourself? How do you work out a ratio of 4:1 cbd/thc. May seem like a daft question but I am new to this stuff. Also live in UK. Thanks.

Hi Lynsey. The strain of cannabis determines the CBD/THC ratio. This article tells you the best ones... The 10 Best CBD Cannabis Strains .

If you are planning on making your own oil then choose a high CBD low THC strain from their list. ACDC or Ringo's Gift are two of the best if you can get them. Harlequin is also very good but has a higher level of THC. If you are going to purchase your oil from a supplier the same applies for choosing your strain. Just be careful if you do decide to buy from a dealer. Do your research first and make sure they're legit.

Hope this helps you Lynsey.

Good luck and all the best!

Cannabis for ER+/PR+ breast cancer
by: Anonymous

I used high THC medical grade cannabis suppositories for 3 months, but my breast tumor grew... eventually had mets in bones. Was a good product too, made by an expert who has cured other people. But it did not work for my type of cancer at all. Made it worse.

After reading this website, I shall try CBD instead.

Thanks.

THC for Post Menopausal Woman who had er+
by: Ann

Great thread here. Can't find my situation listed ANYWHERE, so let's see what pans out here. I had ER+/PR+/HER2 neg Breast cancer in 2008. Finished chemo in 2009. Metastasized to my brachial plexus in 2013 for which I had radiation. Between the radiation and the tumor, I have severe and permanent nerve damage to my arm. I was on Oxy for the pain (ugh). Recently been trying cannabis for the pain. All my scans for the last 3 years have shown no signs of cancer anywhere in my body. But I still need relief for the pain and I HATE being on Oxy. Can anyone point me to a site or a blog that can help answer my question... can high levels of THC cause my estrogen levels to rise increasing my risk of getting cancer again? Sorry for the long blurb. My story is kind of different than anything I've read so far.
Oh, and I currently get monthly foslodex shots, though my oncologist has said I can stop them now if I want.

Thanks all!

No, not according to this study Ann... Marijuana: interaction with the estrogen receptor. It was done on rats though so I don't know just how much you can take from it. I've never heard of any studies showing that THC increases estrogen levels in women?

Hope this helps.

All the best. :)

CBD oil works for cancer
by: Keli

I love CBD oil! I've been battling stage 4 cancer for the last 11 years now. The last few years I stopped chemotherapy and have been taking water soluble BioCBDplus. I'm thankful it has helped me maintain my health and keep me in remission. Also, I had persistent knee pain and thumb joint pain. Since I've been using CBD I've had no pain! - Keli

Dosage
by: Cat

Hi all. Why does it seem impossible to get information on the dosage of CBD oil to take for E+, PR-, Her2+ breast cancer in stage 2? I know everyone has a different case but I can't even find a tidbit of information on how much I should ingest per day. I have a 9% potency oil from a reputable source and have just been putting a half dropper full twice a day. Can anyone help with the dosage??????

Yes it is difficult Cat, mainly because there are so many different potencies. What does it say on the bottle? The manufacturer will usually have an outline or guide on the bottle?

Yes to Cannabis!
by: Christa

Hi. I was diagnosed with stage 2b ER/PRO+, HER- breast cancer in late August of this year. In October, I had a lumpectomy along with the removal of lymph nodes, where they discovered cancer cells in 1/6 nodes.

I have been growing Cannabis and working in the Cannabis Industry for almost 15 years. I have extract made from the plants I grow and get everything tested at a certified lab. As soon as I heard the diagnosis, I went out and got pure CBD Isolate (a powder form). What I do is make measured dose chocolates (dark organic) with the CBD isolate and separately with the THC extract. I have been using doses of 75mg of CBD 2 times a day and 50mg of THC once a day when I go to bed. I also vapourize a 1:1 CBD strain that we grow called CBD Critical Mass, that was last tested at 12% CBD and 8% THC.

When the tumour was first discovered in August, it measured 4.5cm. When it was removed it measured 2.5cm. Now I know that measuring on a scan is not exact, but I can’t imagine that it could be that far off. I had been, and still am doing, the above regimen every day.

I also started taking various supplements that support the eradication of the cancer and have been trying to eat greener and leaner.

I will be going to an Oncologist shortly to talk about hormone therapy, something that the more I read about, the more I do not want to do. Anyway, we shall see. And we shall see how I continue to fare with my Cannabis regime.

If anyone wants to know more about finding extracts, or specific strains let me know. I am up in Canada, but also have a few connections in the States. I think I am very lucky to have had 15 years experience in this industry (on the medical side), and would like to share what I have learnt and what has helped me.

For everyone that is on this journey, I wish you the best of luck and an everlasting recovery.

Hi Cat,
Personally I do not think you will get enough with that dosage. I was told by my ND that a good method to go by is 1mg per pound of body weight per day - I weigh around 150, so I am taking 150mg a day. Now apparently you should do this with both THC and CBD, but because I had heard that in hormone positive cancers your tumour could grow, I decided not to take as much THC until I knew what kind it was (I did not find this out until after the surgery). Anyway, I figure that I (luckily) got the ratio right and am going to leave it as it is - 150mg CBD and 50mg THC.

Obviously I take the THC when I go to sleep, because it knocks me right out. Way better than any sleeping pill.

Best,
Christa

ER/PR+ HER2-

I have read a lot of these comments and am very confused... does or doesn’t the indica strain oil, which to my understanding is high in THC, make my type of breast cancer worse. Some say it does and Troy you say it more than likely does not from what I'm reading. Please help. I just received a batch of the oil and I'm scared of taking it now.

What type of oil do you have Sandy? Christa makes some very worthy comments above so be sure to have a read of them. Pennywise indica strain for instance, has a 1:1 CBD/THC ratio. You can find other strains and information about them here... 10 Best Cannabis Strains.

Hope this helps.

Myriam's Hope looks legit to me. From what I can gather, you have a consultation with a doctor and they "recommend" what type of cannabis strain you should take. I see no problems with using them. :)

No Malignancy!
by: Anonymous

After being scared to death with the thought of using chemo to treat my breast cancer, my husband did all the research and made up RSO for me. I also used hormone suppression drugs and eliminated sugar from my diet to not feed the cancer. I had my scan one year later and there was no malignancy found! The tumor in my other breast is also gone (I'm also taking Turkey Tail Mushroom in tea and capsule form). My dad started taking RSO for his prostate cancer and it dropped from 2.9 to 1.6 after 3 weeks of RSO and turkey tail mushroom. You can live with cancer... just keep it at bay!

All these comments are very confusing. If you have ER+ PR+ and HER+ breast cancer would using CBD hemp oil (bearing in mind that CBD cannabis and hemp oil are the same) be beneficial? And how many milligrams a day? Thanks.

Yes, CBD hemp oil would definitely be beneficial. As for the dosage, it really depends on the brand and the strain, so you would need to follow the manufactures advice/recommendations. Just make sure you find a reputable supplier. This one is very good... CBD Pure - The Most Powerful & Beneficial Hemp Extract Available. :)

My sister has HER2 positive metastatic breast cancer. Meds have stopped working. We have managed to get cannabis oil, it is a dominant Sativa Indica hybrid. There is so much conflicting information on different websites regarding the ratio of CBD to THC. Can someone please advise us on the proper ratio she should be taking. A month ago we didn't know anything about THC, now what we know has just come from research. Can someone please help. We're so afraid that we can't help her and she won t get the proper dosage. Cannabis and breast cancer
by: Anonymous

Having gone through the breast cancer journey I can say that CBD does help, although there are other things that are more powerful. Myself and other ladies who all have/had breast cancer who took large amounts of THC are/were worse off. I recommend CBD oil. It has a very small amount of THC and is full of healing cannabinoids. Activating receptors CB1 and CB2 can be done with Echinacea and high amounts of omega 3, found in hemp oil. If you are going through breast cancer stick with CBD like the original post says. Also try Essiac Tea and look up dandelion. Dandelion is going through clinical trials and has been found to be highly anti carcinogenic.

My mams experience with RSO in ER+ breast cancer
by: Anonymous

Hi all,
Unfortunately it seems my mam has also found out the hard way that high levels of THC can actually fuel ER+ breast cancer. She has ER+ HER2- lobular breast cancer that has spread to her stomach and peritoneum.
She recently tried RSO (THC 3:1 CBD) but after a few weeks started becoming increasingly unwell with worsening GI symptoms until she was hospitalised. She hasn't had a scan yet but judging from how ill she has been and her worsening symptoms (which the hospital believed were cancer related), and from what I've now read about the effects of THC in ER+ cancer patients, I'd say it has probably caused her cancer to spread. So I would also urge anyone with ER+ to try high CBD/low THC first.
My mam is going to buy some CBD oil and adjust her ratio now (probably to CBD 4:1 THC) but what I am confused about is she was following the regimen with the RSO whereby you start on 0.02ml/day and gradually increase over 60 days up to 1ml/day to get your tolerance up, then you take 1ml/day for 30 days. With the high CBD/low THC are you supposed to follow a similar regimen? Does anyone know what dosages of CBD/THC are required/effective in ER+ breast cancer, or can those of you who are using it please share how you are dosing your oil?
Thanks

Hormone positive Breast cancer
by: Lori B

There is an article out there about the possibility of too much THC causing hormone positive breast cancer to grow. After messing with a 1:1 for 6 months, when a Doctor felt my tumor for the first time, I switched to 3 parts CBD, 1 part THC - a total of 100 to 150mg tinture per day broken up in three doses. Less than 7 weeks later, the surgeon who was to remove my 1.7cm tumor the next day, didn't feel it anymore. She removed .5 cm tumor. I firmly believe that higher CBD and lower THC works!

Ratio issue
by: Anonymous

Mum has Er+ve Her-ve, she is 72yrs old. She was first diagnosed in October 2016. She had 6 rounds of chemotherapy and 11 sessions of radiotherapy and was placed on arimidex but it made her joints very weak (a side effect of the drug.) She hasn't been on any medication for 7 months. Her doctor changed the arimidex to tamoxifen, but I read up on it and don't like the side effects either. I want to get CBD oil but I don't understand the ratio part, ie, do I buy CBD oil separately and also buy THC oil then I give her a ratio of 3:1 (from the many responses above I deduce that's the safest ratio). Pls note, we are in Nigeria, it's not legal here so I can't even get it to buy nor make it myself.

Suggestions on the best cbd oil would be welcomed. Also, do I buy the oils separately or are there CBd oils having low THC, whose ratio is specified on the bottle by the maker.

If you buy CBD oil from a reputable supplier it may already have the correct ratio you're looking for. Many suppliers carry a range of different CBD oils. The main problem is though, most suppliers can only sell pure CBD oils (legally). They cannot contain THC. These pure CBD oils do actually work very well however. Here's a reputable supplier if you're interested, although I'm not sure if they ship to Nigeria... CBD Pure.

Hope you have some luck with this.

All the best to you!

My younger sister has stage 2 uterine cancer and we want to try some oil. One dealer has asked if its estrogen caused and the other said it didn't matter because high THC will always work.

I am not sure what to believe but mums doctors act strange. Should I try high THC and risk it spreading or try the lower THC concentration and hope that it does a good enough job? Moreover, I've been searching on the internet and found this interesting article. It helped me alot... https://www.thelaughinggrass.com/hemp-oil-cancer-treatment/

You could always go high CBD low THC to begin with and if this doesn't help THEN opt for a higher THC ratio. :)

I investigated this myself and couldn't find any reason why they couldn't be taken together. CBD is non-hallucinogenic so there's no risk of interactions in that respect. With that said, you should still consult with your doctor or a naturopathic physician just to be sure. :)

Confused with CBD dosage?
by: Anonymous

Hi,
I found this forum very informative and reliable based on peoples personal experiences. These encouraged me to try CBD oil. I was diagnosed with breast cancer based on biopsy and mammogram a few days ago and I am still in the process of taking some laboratory tests to know exactly what I'm dealing with. I am thinking of trying the CBD oil while waiting for the laboratory tests. I found different dosages of CBD oils and capsules and am confused which one to buy and which one is better - the CBD oil or capsules? By the way, cannabis is illegal here in my country so the best option for me is to buy CBD oil or capsules online.

These are what I found:
A drop of Hemp Oil Drops 1500mg CBD + CBDa (15%) contains 5 mg of CBD.

A drop of Hemp Oil Drops 500mg (5%) contains 1.67 mg of CBD.

CBD Capsules (4% / 384mg CBD, CBD capsules 384mg CBD contains 60 capsules per day. container. Each capsule contains 6.4mg of CBD

CBD Capsules (10% / 960mg CBD), contains 60 capsules per day. container. Each capsule contains 16mg of CBD.

Thank you so much and appreciate all your replies.

This is quite difficult to answer as CBD products all differ in potencies. This is the best article I could find on how to work out how much CBD oil to take... How Much CBD Oil Should I Take? Bear in mind that you can't technically overdose on CBD, it's very safe. This is the oil we recommend you use if you can get it... CBDPure Hemp Oil 600. It's one of strongest available and the dosage is very easy - 1/2 dropper taken twice daily (under the tongue) on an empty stomach. The feedback we've received about this particular CBD oil has been exceptional. Also, the liquid under the tongue seems to work better than the capsules.

Hope this helps.

All the best to you! :)

CBD with THC
by: Sheri

I have CBD oil that is 20:1 (THC). I have triple positive breast cancer and do not want to touch anything with THC as I am reading it can cause a tumor to grow. My tumor was removed 4 weeks ago (6 centimeters). With the oil being 20:1 is that a concern? How many drops would I need to take? At what level would the THC be?

Jul 13, 2018

A 20:1 ratio is perfectly fine Sherry. The THC level is virtually nothing. As far as what dosage? You would need to follow the manufactures recommended advice, which should be listed on the side of the bottle/container. Have a read of my reply above on dosages for more information as well.

Hope this helps.

Good luck and all the best to you! :)

Hi. I was diagnosed with estrogen positive BC in 2016, I started taking THC in 2017 and went into remission in July 2019. I still take THC once a week but the last month I have stated to have some symptoms: lower back pain, nausea, tiredness, loss of appetite. Should I up my THC to few more times a week and should I contact my oncologist?

Breast Cancer Treatment
by: Belinda

After much research, I started on the CBD oil along with other natural cancer treatments such as the baking soda, wheat grass, turmeric, ginger, and lots more after being diagnosed with breast cancer 12 months ago. I really felt like the cancer was leaving my body and after full testing and screening I've just been given the all clear! No chemo, radiation, or mastectomy, just natural treatment. For anyone not sure if they should try the CBD oil I say definitely give it a try along with other natural supplements and following an anti cancer diet. I'm actually speechless at how well my results are!
